Schirin Kretschmann: Nomadic Competencies, interventions, and artist talk—Friday, September 29, 2017, 7 p.m., Zeitraumexit and Mannheim’s urban spaces // Schirin Kretschmann’s interventions, comprising both image installations and procedures staged in public spaces, demand the audience’s collective participation. The artist will explain her approach in conversation with Sebastian Baden and Jan-Philipp Possmann.
Schirin Kretschmann works at the tense liminal space between image installation and forms of procedure. Her work looks for resistance in real areas, spaces, and situations; and uses specific on site resources to apply “nomadic competencies” like “automatic movement” and “independent orientation,” through an “engagement with the circumstances,” a “sustainable application,” of materials, a “sharing” of available materials, “cooperation,” and an “approach towards the uninhabited” or “unusual,” alongside the “production of temporary connections” between existing things. We invite you to participate in this pictorial intervention, developed by Schirin Kretschmann specifically for Mannheim’s urban space. Further details will be confirmed soon.
A conversation between Schirin Kretschmann and Sebastian Baden will reveal more about the artist’s procedural work – September 29, 7 p.m.
