The new museum building of the Kunsthalle Mannheim provides food for thought: How could or how should a “museum of the future” look? Curators, architects, journalists, artists, researchers , and representatives of the Mannheim community interactively explore the following three themes in talks, labs, and debates:
Building a museum: What kind of a place does the (art) museum of the future require?
Curating a museum: How can collecting and exhibiting practices be developed, bearing in mind both site-specific and global issues?
Sharing a museum: How do you design the content of the “museum of the future’s” digital strategy?
With contributions from Chris Dercon (formerly Volksbühne Berlin, Tate Modern London), Prof. Wolfgang Ullrich (art historian), Erlend Hoyersten (Aros Museum, Aarhus), Prof. Dr. Lepik (architecture museum Munich, TU Munich), Honorary Prof. Dr. Julia Voss (Leuphana University, Lüneburg), Dr. Stefanie Heraeus (Frankfurt University, Städelschule Frankfurt) and others.
